About this book

Language: English

Tadpoles are recognized as the larval forms of frogs in most parts of Africa. Despite this, they are rarely associated with the correct adults. Tadpoles are not well known, and one of the aims of Tadpoles of Africa is to demonstrate how interesting their morphology and ecology is, as well as to provide some assistance with identification. Tadpoles are fairly common, and it is often easier to find tadpoles than the adult frogs, which makes them useful from a monitoring and conservation point of view. Although we deal with the tadpoles of sub-Saharan Africa, important literature that explains important features or functions, based on tadpoles from other countries, has been consulted.
