About this book

Language: English

This book briefly describes the geological setting of Zhejiang Province, China, and discusses the dinosaur and turtle eggs found there, covering clutches, branch sequence analysis, and the correlation of Cretaceous strata. This is one of the most in-depth studies on dinosaur and turtle eggs from Zhejiang, and, next to its important value for the research community, strengthens the case for the protection of this natural heritage, and highlights the expanding fame of Zhejiang in the palaeontological circles.

A total of thirteen oospecies of eight oogenera and six oofamilies of dinosaur eggs were described in this paper: 1. Oofamily Elongatoolithidae: Macroelongatoolithus xixiaensis, Elongatoolithus sp.; 2. Oofamily Faveoloolithidae: Faveoloolithus zhangioo sp.nov.; 3. Oofamily Dictyoolithidae: Dictyoolithus hongpoensis, Dictyoolithus jiangi; 4. Oofamily Dendroolithidae: Dongyangoolithus nanmaensis oogen. et oosp. nov., Placoolithus tiantaiensis oosp. nov., Dendroolithus sp., Dendroolithus xichanensis; 5. Oofamily Spheroolithidae: Paraspheroolithus irenensis, Paraspheroolithus yangchengensis; 6. Oofamily Prismatoolithidae: Prismatoolithus hukouensis, Prismatoolithus sp.

Among these oospecies, one new oogenus and three new oospecies were established: some diagnoses of oofamilies, oogenera and oospecies were revised.
