About this book

Language: English

The book is divided into five chapters and introduces the characteristics of natural conditions in Inner Mongolia, the characteristics of plant resources in Inner Mongolia, the basic knowledge of palynology, the research methods of modern pollen morphology, and the characteristics of plant pollen morphology in Inner Mongolia. In the fifth chapter, a total of 359 plant species of forest, grassland and desert in Inner Mongolia were collected and described. These belong to 49 families and 201 genera (including 21 varieties, one subspecies and a few cultivated species). Following Engler's classification system, for each species, entries describe the shape, size, germination organ type and quantity of pollen, as well as the morphological characteristics of the pollen grain surface pattern. The period, habitat, distribution, origin, main application value and other contents are recorded. For each plant, there are 1-3 high-definition pollen pictures taken by scanning electron microscope, for a total of 828 pollen pictures, which more intuitively reflect the pollen morphological characteristics and application value of each plant.
