About this book

Language: English

Chitwan National Park is the first national park in Nepal. It was established in 1973 and granted the status of a World Heritage Site in 1984. This book is a record of the observations of the wildlife, with the authors putting the park's diversity into a common theme. Various chapters treat the flora and fauna with descriptions. The first chapter covers the abundant historical biodiversity, from the early days of hunting to current-day conservation efforts. In other chapters, the authors discuss species ecology and behaviour, plants and animals, and then a series of observations on the myriad diversity of life in this park. Other chapters cover the ethics of conservation and past and present management, and the link between natural history and the indigenous Tharu people living adjacent to the park.
