About this book

Language: Italian

A full 35 years after publication of the first edition, the second edition of Flora d'Italia consists of four printed volumes by Sandro Pignatti and a brand new digital flora by Riccardo Guarino and Marco La Rosa with more than 90,000 colour images Organized in a multi-criteria recognition system, including 88,000 photos of Italian flora and explanatory tables, this will be attached to the fourth volume of the work.

This first volume introduces the full work, and covers the Pteridophytes, Gymnosperms and the first part of the Angiosperms, including the basal Angiosperms, Magnolids, Monocotyledons (which in 1982 were in the third volume), and Dicotyledons subdivided into Basal and Central Eudicotyledons.

Systematic ordering follows the hierarchy of Superfamilies, Families, Genera, Species, Subspecies, down to varieties and forms of the same species, each described in the smallest details. Each species is also illustrated by a drawing highlighting the diagnostic details.
