This book provides the most detailed record so far of freshwater fish resources in the Chinese province of Guangdong, based three years of field surveys. These covered the main rivers in Guangdong Province, a tributary and some secondary tributaries, large reservoirs, etc .; through the analysis of a large number of data, and the analysis of previous research this compilation was completed. This book describes the current Guangdong river fish flora (including estuarine fish), consisting of 279 species, distribution in the main river in Guangdong, and an economic fish assessment. It is of scientific significance to understand the changes of freshwater fish resources in Guangdong, the composition of the fish flora, and rational plans for sustainable use.

本书是自上世纪80年代初至今最详细的一次记载广东淡水鱼类资源的调查与研究专著，是由来自多个高校、科研院所等的数十名专业工作者，通过三年的实地调查，调查范围覆盖广东省境内各主要干流、一级支流和部分二级支流，大型水库等；在通过对大量的资料分析研究及在分析研究前人工作的基础上编撰完成。本书记述了当前广东江河鱼类区系淡水鱼类（含河口区鱼类）279种名录，广东各主要江河的鱼类分布与主要经济鱼类相对数量评估、西江、北江的鱼场分析，及主要经济鱼类的生物学并附有主要鱼类的彩色图谱。真实反映了广东淡水鱼资源的现状。对了解广东淡水鱼类资源的变动、现今鱼类区系的组成及合理开发、可持续利用等有科学的指导意义。
