This coffee table book gives a portrait of the last wild river in France, the Loire. The book is especially rich in bird photographs, many of which were shot from a floating blind.

Considéré comme le dernier fleuve sauvage de France, la Loire présente de nombreux visages qui changent au fil des heures et des saisons. L'ouvrage met en valeur un autre patrimoine que celui classé par l'UNESCO mais qui est tout aussi remarquable. Déroulant le chapelet d'îles et de bancs de sable qui s'égrène du Loiret à l'Anjou, il nous montre une avifaune d'une rare diversité : gravelots, balbuzards, martin-pêcheurs, sternes, hérons...Au rythme des saisons, le lecteur va ainsi vivre une année sur le fleuve, à fleur d'eau. Les photographies ont, en effet, été réalisées pour l'essentiel depuis un affût flottant. Cette technique rarement utilisée sur eau courante permet de se déplacer librement dans des zones peu accessibles. Au ras de l'eau, le point de vue offre des clichés surprenants. Enfin elle respecte la tranquilité des oiseaux.
