Please note that the collecting head of this malaise trap has recently been redesigned and improved so that it sits further away from the body of the trap. As such, traps ordered now will differ from traps purchased before June 2022. If you have any questions regarding this improvement, please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 01803 865913.
A Malaise Trap is used for the collection of flying insects - particularly hymenoptera and diptera. The Malaise Trap is a tent like structure - insects fly into the screen and migrate to the highest point where a collection head is situated. The head can be a plain bottle, a dry or wet killing bottle. These traps will catch very large numbers of small insects and a conservation policy over their use should be maintained.
The trap is supplied in 3 versions: black and white (normal), all white, or all black. It is complete with collecting head, spare bottles, filters, pegs, and guys. The seams are all constructed with reinforcing tape and tie points are sewn into the trap. The malaise trap is available both with or without a set of aluminium poles by selecting the relevant product from the drop down menu above. The design of the collecting head has been kept very simple to enable users to modify or replace parts easily in the field, please note that only the 300ml collecting bottles are compatible with this trap.
