Q&A with Tim Dee, author of Landfill
In Landfill, author Tim Dee presents an honest and intelligent ode to our resourceful and daring companions, the gulls, who have thrived as a result of our waste-making behaviours for over a century.

We recently caught up with Tim to discuss his new book and his fascination with these ubiquitous and canny survivors. Read the full interview on the NHBS blog.
Signed copies of David Attenborough's
Life on Earth
Written as a companion to the eponymous TV series, Life on Earth influenced a generation of nature lovers. Now, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the book's first publication, Sir David Attenborough has revised, updated and added to the original text, choosing completely new photographs to complement it.

This would make a wonderful addition to any naturalist's bookshelf, but hurry, as only 12 signed copies are left!

WWF report reveals significant losses in global wildlife populations
WWF’s recently published Living Planet Report 2018 has revealed 60% declines in global populations of monitored vertebrate species, blaming ‘runaway human consumption’ as the key driver behind the losses.

Tracking alien species with citizen science projects
New research published in the Nature journal Scientific Data shows how citizen science projects are of huge importance for tracking invasive species such as the Harlequin Ladybird, which was introduced to mainland Europe in the 1980s as a method of controlling aphids.

Volunteers provide vital information on bumblebee population trends
Data collected by the Bumblebee Conservation Trust and analysed by researchers from the University of Kent, has provided invaluable information on the current state of UK bumblebee populations and ongoing population trends.
