About this book

This book presents a taxonomic revision of the wasp families Dryinidae and Embolemidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) of Fennoscandia and Denmark.

The male genitalia of all species have been figured as well as the female chelae. Synonyms are given only if they have been used in the older Danish and Fennoscandian literature, as well as in the most important revisions of Dryinidae and Embolemidae. For each species, the distribution within and outside Denmark and Fennoscandia is given. The author has personally identified all the specimens recorded in the present book, and has also checked all the localities with the assistance of colleagues. Virtually all the specimens of Dryinidae and Embolemidae from Denmark and Fennoscandia kept in world museums have been examined and checked, including all type material. Some of the collection records are the results of personal rearings and field collections by the author. Host records and names have been taken from the literature, except for data resulting from rearings by the author. Information on the biology of the species has been completed from the literature or from personal observations by the author. The bibliography has been made as complete as possible.
