The Crustacea

With this edition, access to the carcinological texts of the famous Traité de Zoologie are now available to a worldwide readership. Parts 1, 2, and 3A of volume VII, i.e., those on the Crustacea, were published in French in, respectively, 1994, 1996, and 1999. Brill recognizes the importance of these contributions, some of the manuscripts dating from the early 1980s, and herewith provides them in updated and translated form.

All chapters have been carefully reviewed and adequately updated, either by the original authors or by newly attracted specialists. The editor of the original French edition, J. Forest, also acts as supervisor and editor for the current series. With J.C. von Vaupel Klein, as co-editor and principal translator, M. Charmentier as co-editor, and F.R. Schram as advisory editor, this new version meets the current demands and expectations of the carcinological world.

The series is planned to comprise at least 8 volumes (of approx. 400 pp. each), based on the French parts hitherto published, and a ninth split volume on Decapoda, which was never published in French.

The The Crustacea volumes published in this Treatise on Zoology will take over as the standard reference to the biology and systematics of the Crustacea for the coming decades.
