Welder/Fabricator

Location:- Totnes

NHBS is looking for a welder / fabricator to join our small team in Totnes on an initial 6 month contract. 

The successful applicant will have a good working knowledge of metal fabrication and TIG welding and an understanding of precision engineering, in order to assist a busy workshop. The materials you will be working with are marine grade aluminium, stainless steel, wood, brass and precision mesh, with some heavy lifting involved.  You will be using a variety of workshop tools and equipment, together with the necessary safety protection associated with each.

Applicants will be expected to adhere to strict Covid safety rules in our office and workshop including social distancing at all times, use of facemasks and/or visors as required, and observance of all other Covid guidance provided.

Please note successful applicants will be required to complete an on-site weld test.

Key Responsibilities:-

  • TIG welding
  • Measuring and marking out
  • Cutting raw material
  • Drilling
  • Deburring
  • Following technical drawings to fabricate parts
  • Assembling parts into the finished product

The ideal candidate will bring the following to the role:-

  • At least two years experience in metal fabrication and TIG welding
  • Knowledge of using fabrication machinery such as a TIG welding machine, band saw, circular saw, bending machine, belt sanders, pillar drilling machine, angle grinder, and other fabrication tools
  • Willingness to learn to fabricate our products
  • Attention to detail and pride in the finished product
  • The ability to work on your feet all day
  • The ability to work well in a team
  • Good communication and numeracy skills
  • Self-motivated and responsible
  • Willing to assist with the running of the workshop when required

Our offer to you:-

This 6 month position is available immediately. Salary: £20,000 - £21,000 per annum pro rata / £10.26 - £10.77 per hour (depending on experience), based on a 37.5-hour week Monday - Friday, with the position attracting 28 days holiday p.a. pro rata including bank holidays, as well as a generous company pension.

IT Support Assistant

Location:- Totnes

NHBS is looking for a full-time IT Support Assistant to work on site in our office in Totnes. You will be part of our in-house IT and software development team and you will play a crucial role in assisting all staff with all kinds of IT challenges. 

You will be helping out with hardware, software and any kind of technical issues. 

This role is technical but, above anything, it is about supporting the people in the business so that they have the best possible set-up to perform their jobs efficiently.

Logistics Coordinator

Location: Totnes

NHBS is looking for a full-time Logistics Coordinator. This role manages the import and export processes that allow us to ship hundreds of consignments each day to UK and International destinations and ensures that all customers receive their deliveries from us safely, in a timely and cost-effective manner.

This role is part of a small operations team, managed by the Head of Distribution. Projects in other areas of the business and support of other teams may be required. This role would suit somebody with a head for detail and a passion for organisation and logistics. Full training will be provided.

The full-time permanent position is based in our warehouse facility on the industrial estate in Totnes.

Responsibilities:

The Logistics Coordinator specialises in Import and Export and relies on building strong relationships with couriers and delivery companies. The position will involve working closely with departmental teams, e.g. the warehouse, customer services, purchasing and goods-in teams. Responsibilities include:

  • Booking courier and pallet collections
  • Advising colleagues about the best method to ship a dispatch anywhere in the world
  • Negotiating and implementing courier rate changes
  • Preparing import and export documentation
  • Implementing process improvements and related project work
  • Other operational and distribution-related tasks and projects as required

Requirements:

  • Ability to understand and analyse complex processes
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Initiative, common sense and can-do attitude
  • Proficiency in Excel

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience in warehouse/distribution, logistics or operations
  • Experience using Netsuite or similar ERP
  • Demonstrable interest in ecology and conservation
