Wildlife Equipment Specialist

NHBS is looking for a Wildlife Equipment Specialist to join our busy Wildlife Equipment team in our office in Totnes. The successful applicant will work with other wildlife equipment team members running the equipment business and providing technical advice to customers, as well as working alongside the Sales & Marketing team to generate new content, identify potential new customers and strengthen relationships with existing customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer support – you will provide advice and support to customers on our wide range of equipment
  • Product range – you will help source new products, prepare product descriptions, create images and monitor product performance
  • Marketing – you will help to prepare marketing materials including blog posts and emails
  • Sales – you will support the sales and marketing team by building relationships with new and existing customers
  • Identifying new customers – you will help identify potential new customers and then work out the best way to contact them
  • Purchasing – you will deal with queries about products and pricing, requests for information and supplier returns
  • Customer relations – you will contact customers by phone and occasionally in person to offer information about our products and services
  • Conference Attendance – you will represent NHBS at conferences across the UK and Europe, taking along a stand with our products and getting to know our customers 

Skills

Essential:

  • A strong interest in and good practical knowledge of natural history and ecology, and the equipment that people use to survey, study and enjoy it
  • A good telephone manner and outstanding written communication skills
  • Outgoing and confident - you will be comfortable talking to a wide range of people including academics, consultants, teachers and members of the public
  • Numeracy skills, the ability to confidently use basic maths and spreadsheets
  • Above all, we value a common-sense approach, critical thinking and a willingness to learn new skills

Desirable:

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field and the ability to work to a consistently high standard
  • A second language in addition to English
  • Full UK driving licence

Operations Assistant

NHBS is looking for an Operations Assistant with the responsibility for implementing operational efficiencies throughout the business, in order to ensure that we continue to provide the best and most efficient service to our customers. The role is mentored by the Head of Operations and supported by a brilliant IT team.

The work is varied and project-based and will be extremely rewarding for the right person. It would suit somebody with a head for detail, great people skills and a passion for organisation and logistics.

Responsibilities:

The Operations Assistant will analyse workflows across the company and implement systems that increase the operational efficiency of the business. This will involve working closely with departmental teams, e.g. the workshop, the warehouse, or customer services and facilitating change sensitively. The Operations Assistant will produce guidelines, establish quality control processes, and train and work with all staff to ensure compliance. The Operations Assistant will work with the ERP Netsuite, and other applications.

Minimum requirements:

  • Ability to understand complex processes with a holistic view and find integrative solutions
  • Critical thinking
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments
  • Decisiveness in implementing change
  • Proficient in the use of Excel and a broad-based knowledge and interest across all aspects of IT

Customer Services Advisor

 

NHBS is looking for a Customer Services Advisor to join our busy Customer Services team in our office in Totnes. It is the first point of contact for the company's diverse range of customers. We interact with all other departments in the company to appropriately direct customer queries and process orders as smoothly as possible. This is a varied, challenging and rewarding role for the right person. No two days are the same!

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Adding and processing customer quotations and orders
  • Assisting customers over the phone, by email and in person
  • Investigating and solving all order or product-related queries
  • Processing any returns, refunds and credits
  • Other customer-related tasks as required
  • Liaising with other departments
  • Using the company CRM application Netsuite, and other applications
  • Applying discretion and sensitivity when dealing with customers
  • Always displaying a calm and professional attitude towards customers and colleagues
  • Multitasking and the ability to work well under pressure and in fast-paced environment

Marketing - Content Editor (trainee)

NHBS is looking for a full-time Marketing - Content Editor (trainee) to join our small Marketing team in Totnes who will report to the Marketing Coordinator. 

Our ideal candidate will have a talent for writing, great proof-reading skills and a good knowledge of natural history. A large proportion of this job will be writing high quality text - blog posts, emails, item descriptions, magazine adverts, social media posts; as well as proof-reading and editing the work of others.

You will need to work quickly to help produce marketing emails and create printed fliers from templates. In any given week our adverts run in magazines, our emails reach thousands of customers and our printed fliers, catalogues and newsletters land on hundreds of doormats. The Marketing - Content Editor (trainee) plays a key role in producing this material. 

As Marketing - Content Editor (trainee) some of your responsibilities will be:

  • Writing high quality interesting and informative copy about the products and services offered by NHBS
  • Proof-reading and editing marketing copy
  • Assisting with production of the different strands of our marketing campaigns (emails, fliers, print catalogues, print advertising, online advertising, website campaigns, and social media)
  • Writing blog posts and formulating author interview questions
  • Assisting with lead generation
  • Assisting with conference preparation
  • Helping with development and implementation of our social media content, including email reposting and Facebook and Twitter marketing
  • Helping to organise the production and distribution of our printed catalogues
  • Recording data on marketing campaigns

Dispatch Assistant

We have an opportunity for a highly motivated Dispatch Assistant, reporting to the Warehouse Manager, to join our warehouse team.  The position will involve order picking and packing in our busy E-Commerce warehouse, receiving and booking in new stock, as well as other related warehouse tasks as required. 

Responsibilities:

Our warehouse team plays a central role in our relationship with customers and the products they buy from us.  As Dispatch Assistant you will have a high level of attention to detail, care and commitment to our high quality of customer service. You will be on your feet all day, packing large and bulky orders. We are looking for a team player with initiative and common sense.

Specific tasks include:

  • Packing large orders into boxes and onto pallets
  • Packing small orders into customised cardboard wrappers
  • Checking and receiving new stock into our stock management system
  • Communicating shortages and damages accurately and quickly
  • Picking orders in the warehouse
  • Assisting in the moving of stock within the warehouse
  • Bagging and preparing packages for collection
  • Other tasks as required
