Illustrates and describes all 556 species of bird recorded in the Philippine islands. The Philippine avifauna includes some 170 endemics and is thus of interest to avid birders around the world. Many of these species are also endangered, due to the high levels of habitat destruction in the Philippine forests, and this book is also urgently needed by conservation workers in the region. The expert team of authors and artists includes two prominent Philippine ornithologists, and has combined field experience summing to over 60 years. Please note (February 2015): the table of contents refers to an overview map on the back inside cover which is absent. The publisher informed us that this map was taken out when the book was reprinted in 2009, but that the reference in the table of contents was overlooked. This reference will be removed in a future reprint.
