About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and Chinese

There are more than 2000 islands in the East China Sea. Based on previous investigations, four geological units were established for this survey, namely Zhoushan Islands and Hangzhou Bay, Coast of central and north Zhejiang Province, Coast of south Zhejiang Province and the northern coast of Fujian. Considering the type of vegetation, species richness and traffic conditions, 63 of the islands were selected for further investigation and field studies. After six years of investigation, as of 2016, the expedition team has collected 9372 plant specimens, from which 1727 angiosperms taxa have been identified. In total, 1100 taxa of plants and more than 3000 silica gel samples were collected, more than 120 taxa of coastal plants were introduced to Chenshan Botanical Garden, and more than 15000 pictures of the living plants in the field were taken. In addition, 1034 species were geo-referenced for the region. This book aims to cover native species, exotic species, naturalized species, and also some species for ecological restoration, wind prevention and sand fixation. This book contains flowering plants in 151 families and 863 genera distributed on coastal islands in the East China Sea.
