About this book

Language: French

This book accompanies the exhibition "Au temps des Faluns" that ran from May 19th, 2021, to February 20th, 2022, in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Angers, France. Above all, the book is intended to accompany you in the Faluns Sea, which is a former sea which covered Western France from 16 to 3.5 million years ago, to locate the most common fossils from the Miocene of Anjou-Touraine; a time when life was abundant in the seas and on the Earth. Moreover, on the scale of geological time, you rarely observe such a fusion between what we usually separate into two worlds. The sea has covered this region in countless successive sheets, mixing molluscs and elephant teeth, corals and carnivore fangs. After observation, even the smallest fossil turns out to be rich in information.
