Australia's Volcanoes will take you on a journey of discovery through Australia's volcanic upheaval. Australia’s Volcanoes explains what happened all those years ago to create the volcanic landforms that you see today. Most of the sites featured are accessible by car or foot and maps are provided to help you find and explore them. Over the past 40 million years, vast areas of eastern Australia have experienced episodes of volcanic activity.
Russ Ferrett is an avid traveller. He visited and explored every site featured in his book Great Cities of the World and he or a member of his family took all but one of its photographs. His travels, along with 40 years of teaching geography and history to children, make him eminently suitable to write a book of this breadth. Russell has also written When The Earth Moves: Earthquakes and Volcanoes in this Young Reed series for young children, as well as Australia's Volcanoes.
