Too small
By Colin 28 Jan 2016 Written for Paperback

A lovely little book, and some lovely pictures, however, being little is its downfall. The identification photographs (up to 20 per page) are far too small to be practical and there are too many spelling mistakes. This book is too thick to be a 'pocket guide' and would have been far better being 100 mm wider and taller and a real coffee-table publication.

size is normal for a field guide
By C 2 May 2017 Written for Paperback

Just in contrast to a previous review, this book is normal dimensions and weight of a field guide (and larger than some). For those traveling to / around Europe with baggage restrictions, one certainly would not want it any larger. Not intended to be strictly an "at home" reference book. And if you wish it were longer or more detailed – just compare it to the bat guide for North America... oh wait, there isn't one!
