About this book

Language: Spanish

The Cuban archipelago, on account of its biological heritage and diversity and the variety of its natural forests, is considered as one of the major countries in the Caribbean region with biodiversity wealth and high endemism.

The overall objective of this book is to characterize the non-wood forest products used by the Cuban population in different parts of the country, and to apply this information to make technical decisions for the conservation of biodiversity.

This work provides the results obtained by specialists, professors and researchers from several institutions that have studied the biodiversity and forests in the country for many years; many of these investigations have been part of doctoral theses in various sciences, including forestry, especially in the doctoral program of the University of Alicante (UA-Spain) and the University of Pinar del Río (UPR-Cuba) entitled "Desarrollo sostenible conservativo de bosques tropicales: manejos forestal y turístico" (Conservative sustainable development of tropical forests: forestry and tourism handlings) that has already been implemented for more than 10 years.
