Recycling sewage sludge (biosolids) is an important environmental management tool and agricultural resource. Expanding upon the successful "Agricultural Recycling of Sewage Sludge and the Environment", this book explores the major developments in biosolid production, management and recycling including new environmental measures and regulations. Beginning with discussions of sludge production and treatment processes, chapters go on to consider the contents and regulation of major contaminants in sludge, specifically pathogens, metals and organics. The health and environmental effects of these contaminants are considered in detail and a semi-quantitative risk assessment is also presented.
