About this book

Language: English

Nitte University (12°48'32"N 74°53'34"E) is a buzzing hive of academic activity located in Deralakatte, fifteen kilometers south of the district headquarters city of Mangalore on the west coast of Karnataka in south lndia. The campus covers 45 acres of fertile land. The Arabian Sea lies about 5 kilometers west of the campus. The South Kanara district itself is a narrow swath of rain-shadow land wedged between the Western Ghats on one side and the seashore on the other.

The check-list of birds presented here will hopefully serve as a retrievable documentary record of the avifaunal wealth of the university campus and a ready hand guide for the budding amateur birdwatcher.
