About this book

This is a reprint of Birds of Saurashtra, India, a large, detailed treatise published by the author in Saurashtra and originally printed at the Times of India Press, Bombay. The book is undated but was likely published in the mid-20th century, and was, according to Major-General H. Williams’ Foreword, the first authoritative record of the birds of Saurashtra. Fifty-three pages of prefatory matter are followed by 561 pages of text, including “Additional Notes on the Birds of Kutch and Gujarat”. The text is supplemented by more than a dozen maps and 51 plates of illustrations – many of them in colour.
