This document illustrates how federal agencies have incorporated green purchasing into the e-procurement of office supplies by and for government workers. As noted in the acknowledgments, this report is based on interviews with procurement and environmental staff from a diverse group of government agencies and installations, many of whom already purchase green products through agency-specific e-catalogs. According to these agencies, some with several years experience with e-procurement, the benefits include: ease of use, reduced transaction costs, reduced product costs, supply chain efficiencies, enhanced tracking and reporting capabilities, quick and simple payment of invoices, enhanced controls over spending and authorizations, and reduction or elimination of the need to warehouse commonly used products.
