Strategic Environmental Issues in Central and Eastern Europe

The first volume presents a regional environmental perspective of Central and Eastern Europe's transition to a market economy. Also provides good background coverage of a host of environmental issues, such as assessing environmental assets and damages, environmental cooperation among key interest groups, potential developments in environmental protection and sustainable development, and prioritizing environmental needs. The second volume presents a needs assessment conducted between October 1993 and January 1994 for 10 CEE countries. Based on the issues introducted in the first volume, this report looks at each country in detail, providing views on critical environmental problems, suggestions for developing solutions, and opportunities for cooperation in the future.
