Butterfly nets are used by both amateur and professional entomologists to study butterflies in the field. Made from very soft material, they are suitable for catching flying insects and will not cause damage to delicate wings. The fine fabric is not suitable for being swept through vegetation, however, and a sweep net should be employed for this purpose.
