About this book

Language: Spanish

This work provides an updated and annotated list of all species of vascular flora present in La Rioja, a province in northern Spain, in spring 2016.

It is a starting point for development of a future atlas of the vascular flora of La Rioja. The authors are seasoned botanists in the flora of the Iberian Peninsula, who have not only collected specimens of all Riojanese plants that appear in the literature or in major herbaria, but especially contribute their own observations and abundant anecdotes, the fruits of their long experience in the countryside.

This study also offers sections dedicated to new taxa; taxa to be eliminated due to erroneous citations or taxonomic changes; nomenclatural or taxonomic changes (with correspondence); taxa whose presence is doubtful; and it also provides a list of taxa of interest for the flora of La Rioja cited in the work of Xabier de Arizaga, who was undoubtedly the pioneer of Rioja botany during the 18th and 19th century. The book ends with a complete bibliography of 430 references.
