About this book

Bird Mug Shots reveals a whole new side to birds! You've never really truly seen a bird until you've viewed it from both the normal side view... and from the "mug shot" front view. Some of photographer Earl Orf's bird mug shots are hilarious, and some will have you saying, "Huh, I never knew they looked like that!" Val's natural history text will keep you flipping the pages for more. One hundred of North America's "Most Wanted" (and most photogenic) birds are highlighted in full colour in this ground-breaking book.

Biography

Earl Orf has been fascinated by nature since he was a boy, becoming a serious birder some 25 years ago. Since 2005, he has followed his passion of bird photography, studying under experts such as Allen Murphy and Arthur Morris. His goal is to teach people about birds and their behavior through his photos. Well known among birders for his photography, he sells his work through nature and gift stores in Minnesota and Florida. His "Pictures of the Week" postings attract many hundreds of viewers. His web site holds more than 10,000 of his photos.

Val Cunningham writes about nature, especially birds, from her home in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She has been published in local, state, and national newspapers and magazines, writes a column for the weekly "Birding" page in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, and is the author of The Gardener's Hummingbird Book. She birds on a daily basis and enjoys traveling to birding hot spots in the United States, Central America, and other areas. Val takes particular pleasure in sharing with others her fascination with birds and birding. She and her husband maintain a backyard habitat for urban wildlife.
