A unique review of the current knowledge of browse and its role in the development of livestock production. The papers included deal with the ecology of browse trees and shrubs, their geographical distribution, relative palatibility for different animals, and their composition and theoretical value. Other topics include the primary and secondary production of browse; its intensification through technically possible, economically viable, and socially acceptable operations; and the need for the regeneration of browse populations through appropriate management methods.
