The species were selected based upon available information in the literature and the quality of available images. The author's goal is that the reader will use this guide to learn more about ferns and develop a deeper appreciation of their forest habitat.

Biography

Ann E. Hillmann Kitalong, PhD, is a biologist, with The Environment, Inc., Palau. She has two Masters degrees: one in Zoology from the University of Hawaii and one in Biology from the University of Guam. With over 30 years experience in Palau, she has worked in marine, forestry and natural resource management; she has recently worked on the Forest Habitat Assessment Project and the Babeldaob Forest Survey, both projects focused on distribution and relative abundances of the vegetative species. She conducts Environmental Impact and Resource Use Studies throughout Palau. She is the author of A Personal Tour of Palau, A Personal Tour of Palau…Continues, Orchids of Palau: A Field Guide, and co-author of Native Trees of Palau.
