About this book

From the preface:

"This work actually started with the inception of the senior author to Tropical Botanic Garden and Research institute, Palode in the beginning of the year 1996. Since then, collections were made, identified, confirmed and documented in both regional (TBGT} and national (HCIO) herbaria. Novelties were published then and there. However, it became a sporadic attempt because of the scattered literature and the materials. This attempt did not yield any use to the subsequent workers who are engaged in the study of folicolous fungi. Keeping this view in mind, all the fungi known or collected from the Palode forest range have been studied systematically and are presented here in a usable form. Keys are provided to groups, orders, genera and species. Each taxon is dealt with in detail with its original citation and the subsequent publication, detailed morphological characters, materials examined, their deposition and the notes to facilitate the subsequent infomation. Each species or infra-specific taxon is supplemented with line drawings for its confirmation and photographs are provided wherever it is possible. A host index is provided for the rapid identification."
