This is a major illustrated book on lilies, and it captures perfectly the splendour of the genus with its inspiring and beautiful photographs by Andrew Lawson. The author - a renowned lily expert - introduces the versatility of lilies in the garden, suggesting lilies to enhance beds, borders and patio containers, and provides a wealth of clearly presented practical information on growing and propagating. A photographic portrait gallery presents over 100 of the most beautiful lilies, showing off their spectacular range of forms and colours.
Michael Jefferson Brown, who sadly died last year, was a renowned lily expert and breeder and a member of various Royal Horticultural Society committees for over thirty years. Michael won over ninety gold medals for exhibits of daffodils and lilies and is the only person ever to have won four consecutive gold medals at consecutive RHS shows. Michael wrote over thirty titles including the Gardener's Guide to Growing Lilies (David & Charles, 1995) which was chosen as the best monograph of the year.
