A major series of 8 books summarizing the original results of four-year research French-Bulgarian research project, carried out by several institutions in both countries and devoted to the complex investigation on the mountain ecosystemes of Rila Mt., Bulgaria. The books encompass several aspects of structure and functioning of the mountain ecosystemes, their hydrology, meteorology, soil ecology, biotic components etc. Research ahs been carried out on the monitoring by physical, chemical, meteorological/hydrological, biological and Socio-economical methods, atmospheric and soil pollution, waste management, climatic change, nature management, transport and transfer processes, sustainable development, ecotourism, and many others. The OM2 project is one of the not many attempts known so far to approach the complicated problems of ecosystem functioning and maitainance by means of almost all available environmental research methods originating from various scientific branches. The series can be of use to anybody interested in broad and multi-level approaches to nature management and conservation.
