In February 1943 a new volcano was born in the presence of several Tarascan Indians. New volcanoes are exceptionally rare in history, and Parícutin's full nine-year lifetime was unusually well documented. This book tells the story of Parícutin, including the effects it had on the environment and the local agrarian communities.
