Endangered bats identified in Canada
The little brown bats and northern myotis have been discovered in caves in the Alberta foothills. The BatCaver project sees experienced cavers, in association with the Wildlife Conservation Society Canada (WCS), searching caves to locate bat hibernation spots. Knowing where the bats roost may help prevent white-nose syndrome.
Fledgling Tahiti Monarchs under threat
Of the 14 birds which fledged in 2015/16, five have disappeared in mysterious circumstances. BirdLife partner SOP Manu are under pressure to safeguard the future of this critically endangered species.
Hampshire's butterfly anniversary
Butterfly Conservation are celebrating 250 years since naturalist and writer Gilbert White became the first person to officially record butterflies in the county on 8th March 1776. Local butterfly lovers are invited to download an app to record their sightings in the coming months.
