About this book

Language: German

Volume 2 of this classic German excursion fauna, originally written by Erwin Stresemann, deals with insects and is available here in a revised 11th edition. The authors have updated the nomenclature, distribution data and literature. Several determination tables have been completely reworked, others improved. This will keep the book at the forefront of relevant identification books and provides a complete picture of all insects occurring in Central Europe. The book builds a bridge between the numerous illustrated field guides and the, usually too brief, books for the general reader user, and the specialist literature mostly used by the entomologists.

All insects which occur in Germany and neighboring regions can almost always be determined up to family level with this Stresemann volume, in many groups even up to the species. A unique feature in the identification literature!
- Particular mention should be made of the identification tables for larvae, which are missing in most other books, although they are especially often encountered in the wild.
- In general, features that can only be recognized after a dissection of the insect or with a special preparation were dispensed with.
- A separate chapter is dedicated to the increased importance of nature conservation.

This work is indispensable for students of biology and related disciplines at colleges and technical colleges, biology teachers, entomologists, phytopathologists, foresters and farmers, faunists, ecologists, conservationists, landscape planners and surveyors.
