About this book

Language: English

Nematodes play a very significant part in the economy of man and this is clearly evident even from the very early literary records of the world. This significance is more so for animal parasitic nematodes in particular which take a heavy toll of health and life of man and the animals of his interest. The first comprehensive account of these nematodes from the Indian region was published by Baylis (1936, 1939) in the Fauna of British India series. Since then, an enormous amount of literature has accumulated on this group, but so far a comprehensive work to meet a long-felt need of workers on the group as Well as in allied fields, has not appeared. Hence, it was felt imperative to undertake such a work. This is to be published in four successive series to ultimately form a monograph. The first volume deals with nematodes parasitising fishes.
