About this book

Language: Chinese with English summary

The present work deals with the systematic studies on the family Aphelinidae of China. It comprises two parts, namely general account and systematic account.

In the general account, which is divided into four chapters, the taxonomic history, current taxonomic notes, morphology, biology of Aphelinidae and some methods for collecting and preserving chalcids are reviewed.

In the systematic account, 17 genera and 93 species of Aphelinidae are recognized from China, including 34 new species, 1 new combination , and 4 genera and 14 species which are recorded for the first time from China. Keys are given to Chinese genera of Aphelinidae and to species of some genera treated in Systematic Studies on Aphelinidae of China, Under each genus, the generic synonymy, diagnostic characters, phylogenetic relationship, sysytematic history and present systenatic status are also reviewed and discussed. All the species treated in Systematic Studies on Aphelinidae of China are described and illustrated in detail. The type specimens and other material on which this study is based are deposited in Fujian Agricultural University, Fujian, china.

Finally, a list of the known Chinese genera and species of Aphelinidae with their hosts and distribution is provided. This list records 18 genera and 155 species of Aphelinidae from China with 93 species which are actually studied by the author. The aphelinid fauna in the vast area of China has not been thoroughly explored. There remains a lot of work to be done. (English including 1. key to the Chinese genera of aphelinidae and 2. Remarks on the New Species Described in Systematic Studies on Aphelinidae of China and Localities and Collecting Data of the types.)
