About this book

The purpose of this book is to produce an up to date status of the 42 mammal species of Orkney, including the whales and dolphins which are found in the waters around the islands. The authors have attempted, wherever possible, to give an historical account and to record any obvious changes in status. Also, as very little has been published on amphibians and reptiles in Orkney, they have included the relevant 8 species in an appendix.
