About this book
The 18th Biennial Conference of the IAWQ succeeded in becoming the world focus of information exchange for the academic/research community and professionals involved in the science and practice of water quality management. Over 900 delegates from more than 50 countries attended the conference which included 288 papers in the oral presentation programme, structured into 28 themes in six parallel sessions. More than 300 further contributions had been selected for poster presentation. The oral and poster programmes were the result of an extensive review process, and the best papers have, in many cases after revision and further review, been selected for these proceedings. Part 2 contains 71 papers dealing with design and operation of wastewater treatment plants and sewerage systems. The following topics are included: wet weather pollution control; instrumentation, control and automation; design, operation and maintenance of sewerage systems and large and small wastewater treatment plants; sludge management; cross-media pollution and volatile organic emissions.
