Besides food our medicines are obtained from plants directly or indirectly. Biodiversity not only satisfies our basic needs but the coloured world of flowers gives aesthetic satisfaction. The knowledge of biodiversity is so limited that we are yet to know the uses of many of our plants. It is essential that maximum effort be made to conserve this rich resource. This is possible only by constant study of the flora and fauna of the areas."
