About this book

Language: German

The second volume in this two-volume series covers 5 butterfly families, with 21 subfamilies and 475 species. Included are 260 colour distribution maps and 630 colour photos, of which 115 are habitat or landscape shots.

As in the first volume, there are details of
- Distribution and location
- Flight time
- Habitats and prevalence
- Different steps in metamorphosis (egg, caterpillar, pupa)
- Population levels and status

And, as before, precise locality data is tabulated for significant and rare species. Distribution maps are shown for all species that are in categories 0 to 3 of the 2010 red list for North Rhine-Westphalia. The distribution maps, on a scale of 1: 25,000, are divided into quadrants. Summary tables for species on this red list allow readers to track hazard classifications and their changes over the past thirty years. All native species are listed. On popular demand, the authors have also included an overview of the main characteristics of the native butterfly families, aimed at the non-expert.

Summary in German:
Im Band 2 werden 5 Schmetterlingsfamilien in 21 Unterfamilien mit 475 Schmetterlingsarten besprochen. Dargestellt sind 260 Verbreitungskarten sowie 630 Fotos. Davon sind 115 Biotop- bzw. Landschaftsaufnahmen.
