About this book

A new age of food insecurity is dawning, such that few living Europeans have experienced. With it, interest in foraging has soared – and not just as a hobby or high-cuisine curiosity. This book reconnects the contemporary wild-food renaissance with its rich cultural history.

Edible Plants is the most comprehensive colour-illustrated book ever published on foraging for plants and seaweeds in North-west Europe. As well as wild species it includes edible ornamentals – increasing the repertoire of the urban forager – and every important poisonous species.

The book is suitable for beginners as well as advanced foragers, with beautiful photos that aid practical identification, clear symbols for caution and danger, and colour-coded page edges for easy reference. It has thread-sewn binding, in anticipation of extensive usage.

Biography

The only full-time fungi-foraging professional in England. Geoff Dann is an ex-software engineer, who decided to study philosophy in his mid-30s and ended up teaching people to forage for wild food instead of returning to his old career after his studies were over. He is now a full-time writer and foraging teacher, and also presents guest slots on television and writes articles.
