Amphibians of China

Amphibians of China is an academic monograph based on decades of fieldwork, laboratory research, and reference to a large amount of literature. The series will be published in three volumes and is divided into two parts. The first part, found in volume 1, contains the introduction, including the history of Chinese amphibian studies, an overview of China's nature, the biodiversity and geographical distribution of amphibians in China, the ecological types of amphibians in China, and the taxonomic terms and measurement methods of amphibians. The second part, the taxonomic section, includes detailed descriptions of China's known 14 families, 96 genera, and more than 600 species and subspecies with the Latin names, English names, synonyms, morphological characteristics, biological data, population status, threatened category, geographical distribution, and taxonomic discussion.

There are about 10,000 images across the three volumes, including some skeletal pictures that are presented for the first time. The series provides a comparison of the completely ossified characteristics of each genus or group of species, providing a broad basis for the study of the structure and function of the frog's body. Volume 1 contains the orders Gymnophiona, Urodela, and Anura (including the families Bombinatoridae, Megophryidae, Bufonidae, and Hylidae), for a total of 200 species and subspecies. Volume 2 continues coverage of the order Anura and includes the families Ranidae and Dicroglossidae, for a total of 187 species and subspecies. Volume 3 concludes the coverage of the order Anura and covers the families Occidozygidae, Ceratobatrachidae, Rhacophoridae, Microhylidae, and four introduced species for a total of 217 species.

The series will be useful for researchers in scientific research institutions, for university and college students, for agricultural, forestry, and animal husbandry technicians, and for the staff of rare and endangered animal protection and management departments. In addition, this book can be used as a reference for customs, commodity inspection, and other government departments.
