Amphibians of China, Volume 2 is the second part of a three-volume fauna that is based on decades of fieldwork, laboratory research, and reference to a large amount of literature. Volume 2 is divided into two parts.
The main part is a continuation of the taxonomic coverage of the order Anura that started in volume 1, and covers two families (Ranidae and Dicroglossidae), five subfamilies, 34 genera, and 187 species and subspecies. It is accompanied by approximately 3200 images.
The second part is an appendix, including keys of tadpoles and eggs, measurement data for adults, tadpoles, and eggs, skeletal terminology for adults, and karyotypes I and karyotypes II of Ranidae and Dicroglossidae. The second part also includes geographic distribution of species, indices of Latin names and English names, and images of Chinese type specimens from museums and other institutions.
