Biography

Irish-born Margo Hearne settled in Masset in 1974 and began serious birding in 1983. Her articles have appeared in Guardian Weekly, American Birds and BC Nature. She writes a regular weekly column for the Haida Gwaii Observer. She is the author of Small Birds Cling to Bare Branches: Nesting Songbirds of Haida Gwaii, the first publication to focus on island songbirds. She and her husband Peter Hamel work out of their home in Masset.

Dejah-Lee Busch was born and raised on Haida Gwaii. She always illustrated her world and, as a child, entertained herself for hours with pencil, paper and a little imagination. Dejah-Lee completed the visual arts program at Camosum College and returned to Haida Gwaii after some years in Victoria BC. She continues to work from her home in Masset.
