About this book

Language: Spanish

The peculiar geography of Cantabria, an autonomous region on Spain’s north coast, has been a determining factor for the establishment of a diverse forest landscape that is not found in any other of the Iberian peninsula's territories. Beech, oak, holly oak, cork oak or birch have formed a wooded carpet that in historical times covered three quarters of the region, and despite a centuries-long process of transformation of its landscape, remnants of that primitive jungle can be found today in Cantabria that constitute one of the most precious values of its natural heritage, which are described here.
