About this book

Language: German with English abstract

The 2010 revision (Moths, Albrecht & Stein) of the mollusc fauna of the outcrop of the gravel pit Krinke in Werder near Achim, Northwest Lower Saxony, Germany (Miocene, Hemmoorian or Langhian stage, 15.97 – 13.82 mya) is supplemented and updated. A more detailed presentation and revision is done for: Nuculidae Gray, 1824; Arcidae Lamarck, 1809; Astarte J. de C. Sowerby, 1816; Cypraeoidea J.E. Gray, 1824 (Bearbeitung durch Dirk Fehse); Naticidae Guilding, 1834; Obtusella Cossmann, 1921; Triphoridae Gray, 1847; Cerithiopsidae H. Adams & A. Adams, 1853; Muricidae Rafinesque, 1815; Conilithes Swainson, 1840; Sorgenfreispira Moroni, 1979; Cancellariidae Forbes & Hanley, 1851; Chrysallida Carpenter, 1856; Turbonilla Risso, 1826; Acteon Montfort, 1810; Ringicula Deshayes, 1838; Spiricella Rang in Rang & Des Moulins, 1828. An updated list of all 520 species of molluscs previously recorded in Werder (108 bivalves, 6 scaphopods, 1 polyplacophore, 394 gastropods and 1 cephalopod) and a comparison of fauna with three occurrences in the Hemmoorian in the North Sea basin as well as the northeast Atlantic, the Tethys and the Paratethys takes place. The species group names introduced by Sacco for molluscs of the Miocene North Sea basin are listed.
