In this paper, the taxonomically important shell characters of the Asiatic mollusc subfamily Phaedusinae from the whole distributional range are treated. The formation of the columellar = inferior lamella and the palatal plicae of 132 species are presented by drawings. For 115 of these species, the development of the inner lamellae endings is given by formulas. The generic classification of the species is restricted to genus taxa of lower rank because those of higher rank used in former systems had to be given up. Shells of representative species of 47 of these genus taxa are figured. The paper shall show the high diversity of the group and serve as a help for determination.
