This is the fourth edition of A Rare Plant Register of East Perthshire, which was first published in 2011. This new edition includes the results from nine field seasons undertaken since the third edition in 2015.
Perthshire is a historic county and registration county in central Scotland. Introductory sections describe the physio-geographical features of the vice county and habitats, followed by remarks about recording and categories of records, notes on species selection and a list of species organised by rarity status. The introduction includes colour photographs of habitats, a vice-county map and a full-page coloured distribution map of rare plant species in the vice-county.
The main bulk of the book is the register, species being listed alphabetically by scientific name. Each entry also shows the English name, IUCN category when relevant, and rarity status. This is followed by a description and a table. The table includes 6 columns indicating: site, grid reference, recorder, date, habitat and abundance. Some entries include a colour photograph and occasionally a distribution map. A list of references and a list of recorders are included at the end of the register.
Those familiar with The Rare Plant Register of Cumbria (2014), will notice many similarities in terms of the organisation of the contents and the A4 ring-bound format.
