The gulf savannah country of far north-west Queensland has become one of the world's most important area for new fossil finds. These superbly preserved remains of thousands of weird and wonderful prehistoric animals have been found. These ancient inhabitants of northern Australia range from 50,000 to 15 million years in age and include everything from giant snakes to marsupial lions to carnivorous kangaroos.
