Flora and fauna of the remaining forest fragments of the northeast region of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. It is based on a study in 18 forest fragments and identified 30 species of algae and cyanobacteria, 16 species of macroalgae in the streams of these fragments, 117 species of mosses, liverworts and the like, 39 species of ferns, 91 species of basidiomycete fungi, 468 species of seagrass, 169 species of planktonic invertebrates in ponds associated with fragments, 71 taxa of aquatic insects, 257 species of mites, 2135 morpho-species of Hymenoptera , 53 species of fish, 36 species of amphibians, 36 species of squamate reptiles and 328 species of birds.

Este livro representa um dos raros exemplos envolvendo, em uma única publicação, 14 grupos de organismos da fauna e da flora de fragmentos florestais remanescentes. O estudo foi realizado em 18 fragmentos florestais da região noroeste do estado de São Paulo e demonstrou sua importância na conservação da biodiversidade remanescente, nos quais foram encontradas: 30 espécies de algas e cianobactérias aerofíticas, 16 espécies de macroalgas nos riachos desses fragmentos, 117 espécies de musgos, hepáticas e afins, 39 espécies de samambaias, 91 espécies de fungos basidiomicetos, 468 espécies de fanerógamas, 169 espécies de invertebrados planctônicos em lagoas associadas aos fragmentos, 71 táxons de insetos aquáticos, 257 espécies de ácaros, 2.135 morfoespécies de insetos Hymenoptera, 53 espécies de peixes, 36 espécies de anfíbios anuros, 36 espécies de répteis Squamata e 328 espécies de aves.
